Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has bolstered its global presence by striking educational partnerships followed by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three Chinese universities.
The USM-CQEAIE China Collaboration Office realized the partnership by initiating the discussion between USM and its Chinese counterparts: the Hubei University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology – Shenzhen Research Institute and Shandong University of Finance and Economics.
It has now reached an initial consensus for a series of cooperations among the participating counterparts.
On 19 July 2022, USM and the Hubei University of Technology held a virtual meet-up to explore potential collaborations in academic programs and other areas. The session presented opportunities for both universities’ representatives to, among others, share visions and embark on an in-depth discussion on partnership opportunities.
Another fruitful online discussion ensued between USM and Beijing University of Technology -Shenzhen Research Institute, held on 26 July 2022. Among those present were Mr. Zhao Tuan, the Director of Beijing University of Technology – Shenzhen Research Institute and En. Haji Muhamad Sabri Said, the Director of USM’s Strategic Corporate Development.
This session saw both parties examining a potential collaboration for a 3+1 program that benefits students from both universities. Both parties also signed the letter of intent for possible partnership and promoting further cooperation in various areas of education, including setting up USM offshore programs in China.
The USM-CQEAIE China Collaboration Office serves as a communication platform between Chinese universities and USM. USM has expressed its commitment to partake in activities and remain active in the International Educational Exchange and Cooperation projects to foster continued growth in collaboration with the academic institutions in China.
