We optimize assets by strategizing business plans, request for proposal (RFPs) and strategic ventures.
Entrepreneurship
We collaborate closely with stakeholders to launch businesses and create spin-off companies.

The Kopa Arena
The Kopa Arena is a football turf project comprising two FIFA-standard full-size football fields, a 7-a-side pitch, and additional amenities for the facility users. The fields incorporate synthetic turf technology, the first of its kind in Penang, that allows players to immerse in football actions just like playing on natural grass.
Located by the USM’s Batu Uban gate, the project was realised through a build-operate-transfer (BOT) arrangement with a third party operator. More such projects are also now in the works for USM’s Health Campus (Kubang Kerian, Kelantan) and the Engineering Campus (Nibong Tebal, Penang).
Other than benefiting Warga USM, external parties, including amateur and professional football clubs as well as sports management companies can also be part of this exciting experience, either as a practice ground or a tournament venue.
Asset Monetization
The USM’s Strategic Corporate Development team is hard at work in optimizing assets that would work as a two-pronged strategy: facilitate development and growth of new businesses, and help USM toward financial sustainability.
This win-win strategy is orchestrated by identifying unutilized assets with commercial potential, assessing the prevailing needs of the students, staff and community, and ultimately collaboration with potential partners that will turn plans into reality.
The university is a strong advocate of entrepreneurship and self-sustenance that benefit the individuals, institutions, community and nation.
Internationalization
In the recent years, thanks to aggressive international marketing efforts, USM recorded a successive years of growth in international students’ intake and enrollment while interest and engagement from prospective international students hit a record high.
In 2020, while Malaysia’s overall postgraduate intake decreased by 40% largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the USM intake recorded a 30% increase, going against the trend. All these developed despite the Covid-19 pandemic that has restricted movements.
But we do not want to rest on our laurels and initiatives will continue to attract international students from the East, Middle-East, Africa and South American markets. We are thrilled to deliver more eye-opening outcomes.
Contribute
Part of the Universiti Sains Malaysia’s continued growth is attributed to the generous contributions from the corporate, institutions, the alumni network and individuals.
The donations and contributions have tremendously helped the university to create a better learning experience and elevate the standard of campus life.
We are grateful and welcome contributions of all kinds and sizes, in the form of endowment, corporate sponsorship, wakaf/zakat and individual contributions.
Gallery
They say, a picture is worth a thousand words. How true. Here, we showcase the life in USM (and the surrounding). Some of these experiences would not be matched elsewhere, we promise. Many of the photos are courtesy of the Media and Public Relations Centre (MPRC) USM.
